Recycling Guidelines Distributed

The new recycling rules seem confusing at first, but here's a simple guide:

Into bin #1:

Paper and Cardboard: Almost anything that's paper-based. Flatten corrugated cartons. If you have lots, stack and bind with twine. Pizza boxes (with no food scraps) telephone books, etc.) Do NOT put cardboard milk and juice cartons here -- they go in Bin #2 with the bottles.

Into bin #2:

Beverage Cartons, Bottles, Jars and Jugs (both glass and plastic): This one isn't being followed very well. Don't recycle glass and plastic items that are not bottles, jars or jugs (such as plastic lids, yogurt containers, etc.)! Put these into the regular garbage chute. Do put milk and juice cartons here -- not with the cardboard.

Metal:  Anything that's metal or mostly metal. Cans, foil takeout containers (rinse them) and any articles made of metal. (door knobs, wire hangers, you name it).

Note: Regular batteries go into the regular garbage -- don't recycle. Rechargeable batteries go back to a store that sells them -- not in the garbage!

Hope all this is clear!

General Meeting and "Get-together" was Fun and Informative

The recent General Meeting had a new twist -- SHORT meeting (everyone loved that!) followed by a FUN social -- refreshments (good homemade stuff) and door prizes galore.

Who said meetings have to be stuffy? Congratulations to the Officers, who put so much into it, especially President Schaffer and VP DeGulis. Well done!!

For a complete list of Officers see the ORGANIZATION PAGE.

Halls Facelift Complete

The stated goal for finishing the hall redecoration by Christmas 2006 was met. The new carpeting necessitated new vacuum cleaners. Have you seen them? These vacs are huge, half as wide as the halls themselves. They are power assisted, making them easier to push.

My mid-2007, hall traffic had taken its toll and the carpeting was cleaned with other special machines.
